CANDICE BERGEN – ACTING AND PAINTING

Known as Murphy Brown and Shirley Schmidt in TV, actress and former model Candice Bergen has been active in both the fashion and showbiz worlds for more than fifty years. Before her acting career, she was a model, appearing in numerous covers for Vogue magazine. Candice got her first acting break in the critically acclaimed and commercially successful film, The Group. She became known, however, for her role as Murphy Brown in the eponymous TV series. During its run from 1988 to 1998, Bergen won two Golden Globes, five Primetime Emmys, and ten nominations.

She also played the spin-off series Boston Legal as Shirley Schmidt, from which she was nominated eight times for best supporting actress. Currently, she is maintaining a lower profile but has started, along with her daughter, her line of hand-painted handbags, with the profits going to charity as an investment.
