DEBBIE HARRY – PHILANTHROPY

Before she broke the charts with hit singles such as Atomic, Rapture, and Backfired, Debbie Harry earned the status of ‘sex symbol’ during her Playboy Bunny days. She was credited for her rocking vocals as the lead vocalist of the rock band Blondie that paved her way in the entertainment industry. Harry was considered a punk icon of her generation thanks to her daring style and angst. She launched a solo album in 1981 titled KooKoo while Blondie was on hiatus.

Outside of her singing persona, Harry has numerous acting credits under her belt. Some of her most notable performances as an actress were in the films Hairspray, Videodrome, and My Life Without Me. She also has several television appearances in shows such as Saturday Night Live, Phantom 2040, and RuPaul’s Drag Race. The now 75-year-old musician occasionally resides in her hometown in New Jersey with her four dogs. She regularly supports causes such as cancer and endometriosis.
